Dr Chinnababu Sunkavalli is a renowned Robotic Surgical Oncologist (Cancer Surgeon) in Hyderabad.
He has extensive Surgical experience of over 20 years. At present, he is a Senior Consultant Robotic Surgical Oncologist at Yashoda Hospitals, Hitech City, Hyderabad. He graduated from the prestigious JJM Medical College, Davangere and continued to pursue post-graduation studies in General Surgery at Government Medical College, Surat in the year 2001. Later he did Super Speciality training (MCh) in Surgical oncology at one of the largest cancer institutes of the country, Gujarat Cancer Research Institute, Ahmedabad (All India 2nd Rank). His clinical expertise can be exemplified by some of his achievements like the first qualified and trained robotic surgeon of AP and delivering the highest standards of patient care as the best Robotic Surgical Oncologist in Hyderabad. He has 44 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a sought after reviewer for various national and international journals such as the Indian Journal of surgery, Australian Asian Journal of Cancer. His acumen was recognised by international bodies and was honoured with a fellowship at Long Beach Cancer centre in 2009. He was the winner of many awards and, to name a few, a university topper and a gold medallist during his master’s in surgery and super specialization in Surgical Oncology. He has done GI fellowship in the most prestigious cancer institute in the World-Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer centre, New York in the year 2009.Dr. Chinnababu has been trained in Robotic surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo in 2012. He has also been trained in advanced Robotic Surgery in Paris in 2013.
He is a Professor in Surgical Oncology. He holds a professional degree in clinical research. His interest in laparoscopic Oncosurgery has made him focus on robotics.
He is also a Principal Investigator for more than a dozen international clinical trials and is the youngest investigator surgeon from India to be a part of the steering committee for Dr. Reddys and a Key opinion leader. He is also a member of the Ethics committee at Yashoda Hospitals and Medical Monitor for Phase I-IV oncology projects at ClinSync clinical research institute.
Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli specializes in providing surgical treatment for cancers of the Uterus, Cervix, Ovary, Breast, Colon, Stomach, Oesophagus, Oral, kidney and Lung. He has extensive experience in robotic surgery, with more than 8 years of experience as a consultant in robotic surgery.
His repertoire of work also includes Gynaec Oncosurgery and a variety of surgical procedures aiming at organ preservation and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
He has performed more than 1500 Robotic Surgeries and more than 150 Radical Hysterectomies. The excellent surgical outcomes from his robotic surgical team are acknowledged by major surgical bodies. He organized many national and international Live Robotic workshops. He was one of the earliest to implement robotic surgery into oncological practice in the country.
His social work includes conducting many cancer awareness programs and screening camps. His corporate social responsibility part is done through an NGO-Grace cancer foundation that caters to needy cancer patients. He is also visiting on request as an honorary professor at esteemed institutes like Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He has been impacting many African countries through his work.
